diploma tracks

RMHS begins all students on a Core40 diploma track, and they are welcome to pursue a Core40 Honors diploma or a Standard diploma.

dual credit program

Students are welcome to take early college courses starting in their 3rd year at RMHS. We collaborate with Indiana University South Bend, St. Mary’s College, Ivy Tech Community College, and Bethel University. The cost for up to 3 courses is included in your RMHS tuition, and any additional credits are the financial responsibility of the family.

intersession

Our final assessment at RMHS looks different than you might expect. Rather than cramming for a week full of exams, students work collaboratively on a whole-school project that gives them an opportunity to use what they’ve learned in a practical way. Our Integrated Project presents students with a real world problem to solve and gives them one week to develop a solution. Group members work on a multi-leveled, interdisciplinary challenge and offer a 20-25 minute long presentation that is assessed by guides and peers. Creativity and ingenuity are prioritized and there are not any “model” examples of how a solution should look. This challenge requires students to be ambitious and take risks in their interpretations.

city as a classroom

As a micro-school, we don’t feel pressure to develop everything we offer. RMHS students are able to use the city of South Bend as an extension of their classroom, opening up a world of opportunity to learn from field experts for a variety of courses. We collaborate with FireArts, the Civic Theater, and many other local organizations that give students a chance to practice stewardship of their urban environment.
